War Child Canada hosted its annual gala, The World That’s Possible, on Monday, December 8 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Toronto, raising more than $1.1 million to support children and families living with the impacts of war. The evening was hosted by longtime War Child partner Sangita Patel and featured an acoustic performance by Canadian rock band Our Lady Peace. Lead singer Raine Maida was presented with War Child’s Founder’s Award in recognition of more than 20 years of dedicated advocacy, including his recent trip to Afghanistan with War Child founder Dr. Samantha Nutt. The late Honourable Hilary M. Weston was posthumously presented with the Philanthropy Award, while Linda Hasenfratz was honoured with the Changemaker Award. A robust online auction featuring exclusive music memorabilia, sports experiences, and luxury packages complemented a dynamic live portion that included a chance to win an exclusive trip to see Bryan Adams in South America. Generosity and emotion flowed throughout the evening, making it one of War Child’s most memorable events ever. Living Luxe was proud to be a media sponsor.
