A Lifestyle of Luxury
European craftsmanship meets tailored design at Lusso Modern Home.
By Rosie Prata
In a market crowded with mass-produced furnishings and fleeting trends, Lusso Modern Home stands out by prioritizing design above all else. For founder Majid Maleki, design has never been a department or a phase in the process—it’s the very foundation of the business. “Your home should be more than functional,” he says. “It should be remarkable.”
That philosophy has guided Lusso Modern Home for more than 25 years. Maleki began his career in the furniture world in Iran, working as both an importer and manufacturer before bringing his expertise to Canada and opening Lusso Modern Home in 2020. Drawing on decades of experience and deep industry relationships, he launched Lusso Modern Home with a clear vision: to offer modern luxury furniture that balances refined European craftsmanship with warmth, detail and longevity.

“What distinguishes Lusso modern home is its approach to customization. nearly every piece can be tailored to a client’s needs–from dimensions and configurations to fabrics, finishes and materials.”
Today, Lusso operates from a striking 10,000-square-foot showroom in Thornhill, Ontario, serving clients across the GTA, Canada, the United States and internationally. Inside, visitors discover a carefully curated collection of modern and luxury European furniture sourced directly from manufacturers in Italy, Portugal, Spain and Turkey. The aesthetic is best described as luxury minimalism: clean silhouettes elevated by rich materials, sculptural forms and impeccable finishes. “We’re not doing simple modern,” Maleki explains. “We mix modern design with luxury details. That’s where our identity lives.”
What distinguishes Lusso Modern Home, however, is its approach to customization. Nearly every piece can be tailored to a client’s needs—from dimensions and configurations to fabrics, finishes and materials. “Every home is different, and every client is unique,” says Saray Maleki, Majid’s daughter, who is a key part of the family-run business. “Because we work directly with European manufacturers, we can customize without excessive markups. That flexibility is huge for homeowners and designers alike.” She adds that investing in premium materials, such as solid hardwood, top-grain leather and handwoven textiles, ensures that pieces are functional, beautiful and long-lasting—the very qualities that Lusso champions. “True luxury is investing once, in pieces designed to endure changing tastes and lifestyles,” says Saray.
The direct-from-manufacturer model is one of Lusso’s core pillars. By eliminating unnecessary intermediaries, the company can offer premium European furniture at accessible price points without compromising on quality or craftsmanship. Many competitors rely on layered wholesale channels, but Lusso works straight from the source.
Equally important is the company’s commitment to detail. From the precise stitching of Italian leather sofas to the subtle curves of dining tables and the depth of high-gloss cabinetry, every element is intentional. “These aren’t small things,” Saray notes. “They’re everything. Our clients notice.”
Lusso’s reputation has grown largely through word of mouth with designers, architects, builders and homeowners who refer one another after experiencing the showroom and service firsthand. “Ninety-nine per cent of our clients come from referrals,” Saray adds. “People don’t just love the product; they trust us.”
That trust is reinforced through white-glove delivery, in-home assembly, cleanup and strong warranties, with some pieces backed for up to 10 years. Fresh collections arrive every two to four weeks, and many bestsellers are kept in inventory for quicker delivery—an advantage in today’s fast-paced design world.
At its heart, Lusso Modern Home is about investing in exceptional furniture designed to complement the lives lived around it. “We’re not here to sell,” Maleki says. “We’re here to guide, design and inspire.”
