Luxury Designed From The Ground up

At Khayeri, every plank reflects hand-crafted European heritage, contemporary design and a lighter footprint on tomorrow.

When looking to ramp up the elegance in a new or renovated home, flooring is a prime consideration. “Exceptional design starts from the ground up,” says Mehran Khayeri, founder of Khayeri Curated Flooring. “Flooring is the base of a room’s design, similar to a canvas for a painting, setting the tone and rhythm for the entire space.”

Khayeri is an artist and avid globetrotter when he’s not developing innovative products. And in this, he is something of a maverick, ever seeking new and different ways to help create memorable and beautiful spaces, both residential and commercial. “Back in 2000, I was the first to secure the rights for an engineered hardwood flooring in Canada,” he says. The rest, as they say, is history.

Since then, this type of flooring, which gives the timeless cachet of traditional hardwood with enhanced durability, has become the go-to for today’s homeowners. And Khayeri Curated Flooring has become the provider of exquisitely designed, top-of-the-line luxury European engineered hardwood flooring.

Only the most prized, yet sustainable, wood materials are used, specifically white oak and ash from France. There, French white oak is considered a national treasure, strictly protected and regulated, with each tree certified and tracked. Over the past century, France has doubled the size of its oak forest, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable growth. French ash is managed with similar care. “Environmental responsibility, leaving the world better than how we found it, is a core value,” Khayeri says.

All Khayeri products are engineered for climate durability, too. Because only mature, old-growth trees are harvested, it ensures optimal strength and environmental balance.  Khayeri Curated Flooring products are backed with 100 per cent Baltic marine-grade birch, renowned for its dimensional stability and moisture resistance—qualities essential to withstand the rigours of Canadian climates.

“And unlike most competitors, which act as dealers or resellers, we manufacture our own flooring, primarily in Holland, which has very high standards in quality and sustainability,” he says. Khayeri has a huge variety of flooring options, and over one million square feet of flooring is kept in stock at its Woodbridge facility, making it one of the largest holders of European-made flooring in Canada, Khayeri says.

There are two specialized divisions: Khayeri Curated Flooring is targeted at the designers, architects and custom builders who form most of its customer base, and Khayeri Constructor line is prized by developers of large condominium projects. While trade-focused, Khayeri welcomes the public to its showroom and gallery in the heart of the city’s Castlefield Design District. It also employs its own staff of certified installers, ensuring quality and enabling it to offer a lifetime warranty on every product. This controlled process guarantees consistency and reliability.

“We like to innovate and are all about producing the best possible product available without compromise.”

Two main product lines ensure extensive customization: the Memories of Scandinavia Line, with its sophisticated take on wide and long-plank flooring, and the Memories of Versailles Line, which evokes palatial opulence with options for such custom patterns as chevron or parquetry for historical flair.

With its Bespoke Line, the company works with designers and architects to realize their unique designs. Current trends call for even wider—up to 12 inches—and longer planks because they make for fewer seams and greater visual appeal. “This poses some technical problems, but we’re up to the challenge,” Khayeri says. “We like to innovate and are all about producing the best possible product available without compromise.”  For those who want to experience Khayeri’s offerings in person, the team welcomes showroom appointment bookings through the company’s website or by phone at (416) 967-9200.
