Sometimes a place takes your breath away so completely that you just have to make it your home away from home. That’s exactly what happened to Ontario businessman and developer Alec Cloke a few years ago when he first felt the magic of Mahone Bay, the picturesque, charming town nestled along the South Shore of Nova Scotia. From his decades in business, Cloke is a man well versed in the importance of relationships, and he was immediately drawn to the great people and the community spirit at the heart of Mahone Bay.
After constructing his own vacation home in the area, Cloke recently entrusted Stamp & Hammer, the architectural firm readily familiar to Living Luxe readers through its array of stately GTA projects, to design a hub of upscale townhouses in harmony with the town’s enchanting character.
“Our time in Mahone Bay inspired us to integrate its abundant nature, defining ocean, and charming architecture into the Trinity Row Residences,” says Berit Bech, Stamp & Hammer’s CEO. “The result is a small number of new, elegant modern homes in the heart of the village that stand out and pay tribute to their surroundings.”
The Trinity Row name and the modern distinguishing pitched roof design throughout the enclave are an architectural nod to the iconic trio of church steeples that define the shoreline’s postcard view on the community’s Main Street. Just a short distance away, Trinity Row has been designed with pathways for its residents to meander to the street, allowing them to enjoy the oceanside village’s wonderful array of shops, eateries and cafes.
Stamp & Hammer chose a deep blue siding for a maritime anchoring of the buildings in homage to the nearby ocean’s expansiveness. Modern longboard architectural cladding provides a signature contrast that echoes the beauty of the surrounding trees. “The HardiePlank lap siding with a natural cedar look that we chose for the exterior can withstand the oceanside and winter elements without needing special care or regular maintenance,” Bech says. “This whole project is about making life easier to enjoy. With this in mind, glass railings were chosen to take full advantage of the views in the indoor/outdoor balcony areas.”
In the spirit of elevated yet simplified beauty, Stamp & Hammer chose Scandinavian influences for the interior of each three-storey unit, with clean lines in high-end finishes and a light, airy palette. All the finishes and appliances have been pre-selected by the developer to ensure consistency in quality and aesthetics. “Each appliance has built-in panels to maintain the clean lines with ideal functionality,” Bech says. “All of this maximizes the living space that can be enjoyed.”
On the ground floor of each townhome is an attached garage, as well as room for a guest bedroom, home office or gym with its own bathroom. “The homes are designed to make it easy for residents and their guests to come and go from either the front or the back of their unit,” Bech says.

Residents can select between two exclusive layout options according to their upper-level living preferences: “Buyers can choose to enjoy their main living space on the third floor, with stunning expansive windows, vaulted ceilings and a three-season sheltered indoor/outdoor area, or they can opt for the two-bedroom suites on the top floor instead,” she explains. “Whatever their lifestyle and layout preference, each home features an elevator in addition to the stairs to provide ease, comfort and convenience for everyone.”
With Halifax—one of Canada’s fastest growing cities—just an hour’s drive away, the location of the units is prime. The project has already garnered interest both locally and as far away as Germany. The Trinity Row Residences are an ideal enclave to call home—or home away from home—for those seeking modern aesthetics, beautiful architectural design and quality finishes, all within a well-established and charming oceanside community.
“This project is truly special in how it provides new upscale, architecturally thoughtful housing that honours Mahone Bay’s natural beauty and historic architecture,” Bech says. “Alec Cloke, the developer, knows others will fall in love with Mahone Bay’s magical charm, stunning oceanside landscape and vibrant and spirited community exactly the way he did, and he is excited for others to experience it.”
