Canadian designer Kate Austin brings luxury to the kitchen with a collection of high-fashion accessories—pieces we didn’t realize were missing. When we think about time spent cooking or baking, it’s often imagined as messy and unpredictable, throwing on whatever happens to be within reach. But today’s kitchens are designed with an elevated sense of luxury—so why shouldn’t what we wear reflect that same level of style?
Through Kate Austin Designs, vibrant colours and playful patterns transform everyday kitchen staples into something far more inspiring, introducing a renewed feeling of serenity and joy. These routine tasks are reframed as something a little more intentional—and a lot more fun.
“I’m always looking for ways to brighten up our lives, bringing a sense of happiness and playfulness into our days,” Austin shares.
By elevating the heart of the home, her designs shift how we think about the kitchen; it’s no longer purely functional, but a space where practicality meets personality and design.
With Kate, we explored the Kate Austin Designs collection, curating and styling pieces that elevate familiar kitchen accessories into a refined, fashion-forward experience. From aprons, towels, mats, and oven mitts to napkins and tablecloths—and even scarves reimagined as tops—each element contributes to a kitchen that feels expressive and distinctly personal, proving that even the simplest moments can be infused with style and luxury.
Jamie Mendel transforms the Frida Cabana Stripe Bandana into a beautifully tied cross-neck, backless tank top, seamlessly reimagining the accessory as a statement piece, styled with white jeans and heels.
A Kate Austin must have—the Green and White Cabana Striped Market Bag. “I love a beach cabana style–sunshine, easy, fun,” Austin says.
